Plans for a new I-95 bridge over Lake Marion.
Plans are underway at SCDOT for a 2025 new bridge replacement between North Santee and Santee. The replacement bridge is required as the highway is a designated hurricane emergency evacuation corridor. The design includes two lanes each northbound and southbound with a future additional lane and shoulder in each direction and a pedestrian and bicycle lane southbound. The existing bridge will remain open during construction.

Summerton Restaurant Grades
DEHEC inspections of Summerton restaurants are posted and each received A in either most recent or most recent correction inspection. If a restaurant receives a B rating a second re-inspection is scheduled. Those receiving a grade of A in the first inspections and so exempt from re-inspection are Golden Dragon and Logan’s Pizza House, Big Al’s BBQ and Grill, Mr. Bray’s Snack Shack, D’s Spot, Red’s Food Marlet, Dairy Queen and Subway at Love’s Travel Center. Those receiving an initial B rating but correcting to A upon re-inspection are McDonalds at the Travel Center, The Summerton Diner and Short Trip.
